Repeat Review and Ending *CONTAINS SPOILERS* - British Indie Scifi Horror Film w/ Charlotte Ritchie
FILM THREAT
Repeat is flawless from top to bottom. The acting is amazing, the direction is confident and bold, and the writing is beyond brilliant. I implore everyone to check it out as soon as possible while I eagerly await Archer and Miller’s next outing. I have no doubt it’ll be something special to behold.
STARBURST
It’s as all the narrative strands are pulled together in the disorientating final act that the movie rises above its humble origins. It’s a confident, bold film with a satisfying conclusion that packs a hell of an emotional blow.
FILM FORUMS
The most interesting part of the film, I think, is pulling off the difficult feat of presenting a complex scientific subject in decipherable terms without oversimplification.
ENTERTAINMENT FOCUS
‘Repeat’ is one of the most ambitious and satisfying science-fiction films I’ve seen in a long time. I don’t recall being so moved by a film like this before and I commend Miller for straying off the beaten track to create a truly unique film. ‘Repeat’ doesn’t go where you expect and the climax is way more emotional than I would have expected when I started watching. Involving, intense and deeply moving, ‘Repeat’ is a film I highly recommend that you seek out.
NERDLY
I know I frequently complain about films that are too long on talk and drama and short on action but this is one time where I don’t have many complaints at all. Repeat hits the marks and delivers a story that held my attention right through to the end. It’s an excellent example of what low budget science fiction
can be when done right.
SCIFINOW
Repeat has echoes of 2004’s Primer, where characters are seduced by technological solutions with little understanding of the true consequences to their actions. It’s a smart, suspenseful sci-fi that manages to keep the audience guessing as to how the story will end. However, as Ryan proudly announces to his captivated audiences: “The end is just the beginning.”
SET THE TAPE
Writer and co-director Richard Miller has created a lot with very little, and Repeat shows just what can be done by focusing on substance over mere style in science fiction. A thoroughly enjoyable sci-fi thriller, Repeat is – quite aptly – highly rewatchable and definitely destined to become a fan favourite.
FEARS MAGAZINE
REPEAT is an engaging science fiction thriller with nicely constructed twists and turns in the plot to keep the viewer guessing as to where it will end up. Solid performances and production values hook the viewer into taking the ride.
EYE FOR FILM
This is an impressive piece of work which punches well above its weight. There are enough hints to let you figure out what’s going on before the end, but the characters’ experiences remain powerful and the attention to detail all the way through means it may still surprise you. It’s one of those little independent efforts that really deserves to go the distance.
